With breathtaking natural scenery, Pattison State Park is one of the best destinations in Wisconsin to enjoy some truly memorable sightseeing. The highlight is, of course, Big Manitou Falls, which is 165 feet high and well worth capturing in a photo or two. Twin Little Manitou Falls may be much smaller, at a height of 31 feet, but still a lovely sight. You'll need to strap on your walking shoes to enjoy the best water views. A half-mile trail leads you to overlooks on both sides of the river, while the Big Manitou Falls River Trail is a steep but rewarding trek that gives you a closer view of the river itself. There are seven miles of hiking trails in total in Pattison State Park, so it's also worth venturing further afield to explore the best of them. The two-mile Beaver Trail, which leads you around Interfalls Lake, is a particular favorite. Along the way, you might spot some of the 250-plus animal species that call the park home, so keep your eyes peeled. If you're visiting in the winter months, the park also boasts three loop trails for cross-country skiing. All of these loops can be accessed from the campground and designed for beginner to moderate-level skiers. The red loop is designed for beginners and is the best place to start your adventure. Of course, if you visit at the height of summer, snow will be the last thing on your mind. Happily, you can cool off by taking a dip in the 27-acre Interfalls Lake. There's a 300-foot sandy beach area where you can venture into the water, or maybe just stretch out in the sun and work on your tan. However, there are no lifeguards on duty, so be very careful if you do decide to go for a swim.
