Recommended RV Campgrounds and Attractions around Chico, CA
Chico is known as ?the City of the Trees? and Almond Tree RV Park has plenty of trees on site to shade it visitors from the hot summer sunshine. It is a small, attractive park, whose facilities include a pavilion, a gazebo and a pool, as well as a convenience store, laundry, and picnic tables. (Umbrellas are available to go with the tables if required.) The site is conveniently situated for many attractions in Northern California, including Bidwell Mansion, Bidwell Park, and the Sacramento River. The city of Chico itself is bisected by Bidwell Park, and has a fascinating history. It was founded in 1860 by John Bidwell, a member of one of the first wagon trains to arrive in California in 1843. Much has changed since then, but the landscape remains just as compelling and beautiful, and very much merits exploration by the visitor.
The Yuba City Astronomical Observatory is a wonderful place for visitors of all ages. The focused study using the observatory includes planetary, deep sky, NEO studies, photometry, and astrophotography. The observatory is operated by a trustee appointed by the family. The facilities were established in September of 2010. The staff at the observatory hosts star parties in order to get the people in the community to be excited about the sky above them at night. They focus is on providing educational programs for members of the community. All the members of the community and visitors are welcome to these special events.
