Naval Air Station Point Mugu is a former military base that operated from 1942 to the year 2000. From that point on, it formed an alliance with the Port Hueneme Naval Construction Battalion Center which was named Naval Base Ventura County or NBVC. In 1950, NAS Point Mugu was the setting for the film The Flying Missile. It was also the airfield used by former President Ronald Reagan during his presidency and around the time of his death. The area around NAS Point Mugu is the setting for two game reserves and one state park.
