Resting just a few miles in from the Atlantic Ocean, guarded by Flagler Beach, Ormond-by-the-Sea, and Daytona Beach sits Bunnell, Florida. The town was first settled when Alvah A. Bunnell began supplying wood to the new railway system and industry that was beginning to set up shop in this part of Florida. There is an abundance of outdoor recreational activities to enjoy, not to mention the gorgeous weather, throughout central Florida, all providing great reasons to search for an RV in Bunnell.
Just to the west sits the Lake George Conservation Area near Crescent City. There are numerous water-related activities that take place on Lake George, considering its size and breadth. Just beyond Lake George sits Ocala National Forest near Ocala, a gorgeous refuge replete with alligators, herons, and many other natural wildlife. If you’re up for a drive with that RV rental near Bunnell, you can head to the Panhandle and the Apalachicola National Forest near Apalachicola or down past Miami to Everglades National Park, though that would be more than a few hours in the motorhome rental from Bunnell.
Florida is well-known for its warm climate, hundreds of miles of beaches, and, of course, gators. It’s also a wonderful place to explore natural parks, history, and even those famous amusement parks. The Bulow Plantation Ruins Historic State Park, located right near Bunnell, is a great destination for those who love rich history. This particular state park offers insight into how people lived on plantations more than a century and a half ago. Surviving as settlers in this harsh environment was not easy and you can gather a great deal of information about the Indian Wars.
Waterfront Park is located nearby in Palm Coast. It’s a nice and pleasant walk and can get a bit crowded at times with other walkers and bicyclists, but it offers a quiet respite when you want to get away for a while. When you rent an RV, this is a great opportunity to get some exercise or even walk your dog.
You won’t find any shortage of beaches up and down the coast only a few brief miles away. You can check out Daytona Beach, but be advised that during “spring break” it may be best to avoid this particular beach because of all the college students who descend upon this area.
When it comes to parking the RV rental near Bunnell for the night, there is a Walmart Supercenter in Ormond Beach, just north of Daytona Beach. If you plan on setting up here for a night, be certain to check with management first to make sure it’s okay.
Otherwise, you can consider staying at one of the many RV parks in and around the area, including Sunshine Holiday Daytona RV Resort. This is also located in Ormond Beach and is relatively large. They have full hookup service, including 50 amp electric. They also have pull-through sites, a pool, and pets are permitted. It is a clean site that has grassy areas and concrete pads.
Renegades on the River is located in Crescent City and is family owned and operated. They have pull-through sites, full hookup service including 30 and 50 amp electric, restrooms, showers, laundry facilities, and a camp store. It is right on the St. Johns River so fishing is allowed. The sites have brick paves and grass between them. It is close to Lake George so you won’t have any trouble finding things to do.
Beverly Beach RV Camptown RV Resort is located in Flagler Beach and is relatively large with full hookup service, including 50 amp electric. It has pull-through sites, showers, laundry facilities, and a camp store. You can also fish here and you can’t really get much closer to the water.
The city of Bunnell may be relatively small but you’ll be close to a number of attractions and other small towns and cities. In Palm Coast, you might want to check out the European Village. It’s considered a cozy place, and in season offers an array of shopping and dining choices. Even though the name might denote a European flair, it doesn’t offer very much in that sense, but they do have farmers markets on the weekends, too.
Golfing is considered one of the biggest pastimes throughout Florida. You’ll have no trouble finding regular length golf courses as well as par three setups, depending on your level. Palm Coast has several, including some that nestled up against waterways.
Flagler Beach Municipal Pier is a wonderful destination when you have a camper rental in Bunnell, Florida. It’s a wooden pier that has been rebuilt over the years. It’s a wonderful spot to do some fishing, enjoy the sun, or watch surfers catch some waves. Couples walk hand-in-hand down the pier, gaze out to the open ocean, and it can remind us of the beauty and power of nature that surrounds us every day.
