With varying levels of trails available, hikers can choose from easy to difficult trails. The Mary Ingles Trail System is located at the marina and offers six different trail loops. The Pleasant Ridge Trail System offers five wooded nature trails, while the Yatesville Lake Multi-Use Trail is about 20 miles long and open to hikers, bikers, horse riders, and backpackers.

There are restrooms, showers, and laundry facilities too. With no dearth of recreation at the campground, thanks to easy access to the lake, you get to spend your days fishing, swimming, boating, hiking, or playing golf. Pets are welcome at this pet-friendly campground. 

When you’re looking for a place to camp in an RV near Yatesville Lake State Park, drive to the Creekside Cabins and RV Park in Louisa. It has over 40 campsites and is equipped with pull-thru sites, big rig access, tent camping, full hookups, 30 and 50 amp electric service, water, sewers, WiFi, and cell phone coverage. There’s a playground for the kids to run around in and recreational trails for you to explore. There’s a pet area too, so bring your four-legged friends along! 

Exploring the Area

Yatesville Lake State Park is packed with action and adventure, and once you’ve soaked in all there is to enjoy at the park, consider driving to some of the neighboring towns and cities in the area. The city of Winchester is about 126 miles from Yatesville Lake State Park and offers another green and serene experience. 

The Daniel Boone Forest is at the edge of Winchester and is home to several reservoirs, canyons, waterfalls, and the famous Sheltowee Trace Trail that runs for over 300 miles. 

Within the city, you have the Lynkins Park, offering 40 acres of sprawling green openness, baseball fields, basketball courts, tennis courts, a skating park, and a playground. Spend the day out with the kids enjoying the facilities at the park.

Get an insight into the history of central Kentucky at the Bluegrass Heritage Museum. With themed rooms and quilted exhibits, the museum offers an interesting glimpse into the area’s vast history. 

Art lovers will enjoy visiting the Guild House Gallery that features artworks of local and national artists. 

Enjoy a meal at one of the locally-owned restaurants in Winchester, or if you fancy a fast food meal, there are a couple of chain restaurants to choose from.
