Getting Outdoors
While visiting the park, be sure to check out one of the park's many multi-use trails, which vary in length and difficulty but offer plenty of sights to see. If you're looking for something simple and short, go with the Canyon Overlook Trail, a quarter-mile loop featuring spectacular views of the park's long gorge. The Lakeside Loop Trail is ideal for those looking for a more challenging adventure. This trail is a little over five miles long and takes hikers around Lake Habeeb, over bridges, and through the woodlands. For visitors wanting something harsher, the Evitts Homesite Trail is a challenging five-mile hike past small streams and mountainous terrain. This route will take visitors up to 1,000 feet of elevation.
Camping at Rocky Gap State Park
Rocky Gap State Park's campground offers a total of 278 campsites for tent and RV campers. Only 30 sites offer 30-amp electric hookups. Near the campsites are bathhouses with hot showers, toilets, and a camp store. Campers can easily access the park's trailheads and nature center. A private beach near the campsites is available for campers only. Canoe rentals and more can also be found here. Pets are welcome at select sites, so if you're camping at Rocky Gap State Park with your pet, make sure to book a pet-friendly site.
Exploring the Area
While out and about in the area, consider visiting the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad in Cumberland, Maryland. Here, you can take a ride on the train and witness the natural beauty of the area while learning about its history from actors putting on interpretations. Visitors can choose their own adventure, some of which even offer lunch and dessert. What's not to like?

This was the perfect camper for our group. Although I doubt we were the first ones to ever rent it, everything was so immaculate we were fooled into thinking it was brand new! The camper was very well accessorized to host a small group of 4-5 people. Our host, Charlie, was incredibly pleasant and set everything up for us. He was also very accessible any time we had needs and was willing to go out of his way to make our rental a great experience. I highly recommend this rental if you are looking for a getaway!
