Goodrich is a village in Genesee County, Michigan, a suburb of Flint, and is located in Atlas Township. It was named after Mr. Levi H. Goodrich, who traveled there from Buffalo with his wife after they had sold their home. Explorers in Pontiac told them about the environment in the area where Goodrich now stands, and after seeing it for themselves, they purchased land. The couple built a log cabin in 1836 followed by a wood frame house in 1838. A Mr. Matthew Davidson built the area's first tavern in 1846 and named it “The Goodrich House” (presumably after the community's first settlers); the tavern was popular with traders and salesman, and was owned and operated continuously by several people until it suffered a fire in 2009, after which it was torn down.
