If you like the heights, check out Mountain View Recreation Area, a great place to bike or enjoy some nice trails. If you prefer the more snowy side of the mountains, check out Detroit Mountain Recreation Area. This is the place to lace up your skis and embrace the exhilarating Minnesota slopes. Leave the mountains and drive down to Greater Sucker Creek where you can see wildlife in its natural brilliance at this nature preserve. Then you can finish off the day at the Detroit Lakes Overlook where you can relax with a nice scenic view of the lake. To the north, White Earth State Forest is also worth looking into.
