Discover Echo Lake RV rentals for memorable road trips

At only 18 acres, Echo Lake is barely large enough to be classed as a lake. The name is well-earned, however. Due to how the mountains ring the lake, whispers and shouts reverberate and are repeated. The sandy shores and the clear water that’s tinted faintly green - perhaps reflecting the vibrant green fir trees - makes the lake a popular destination for the locals, though perhaps in part due to its small size, it’s rarely crowded even during peak season. Craggy exposed gray cliffs lay bare, a stark contrast with the soft green of summer trees.

Getting Outdoors

Other than a few days during the peak summer season, the only company on the lake will be a local fisherman seeking a string of fresh fish for supper. Clad in a classic New England sweater and wellies, they’re a quiet accomplice. A warm-water fishery, the main catches are smallmouth bass and yellow perch. Hikers occasionally pass by the lake, seeking other destinations. Nearby White Horse Ledge and Cathedral Ledge, both of which are visible from the lake, are popular draws for rock climbers. Aspiring climbers scale the sheer granite slabs of rock walls, searching for an elusive handhold. On a quiet morning, their faint shouts to the belayers down below can be heard skittering across the surface of the water. “Take!” “Slack!” “Climbing!” Hikers, some accompanied by dogs, pass through the Echo Lake State Park to connect with the larger White Mountain National Forest. A piece of unadulterated New Hampshire wilderness, it’s home to not only countless wildlife, but it also has several scenic vistas, meadows, and waterfalls.

Camping at Echo Lake

When you rent an RV, be sure to figure out where you’ll park it overnight while you grab some sleep. Though it’s a rural area, the mountain roads are narrow, and it can be difficult to find a safe place to pull over. Crawford Notch State Park campground has 36 wooded sites, many of which have hookups. The campground is dog-friendly, which is an added bonus.

Exploring the Area

Hop into a rental motorhome and explore the small towns that pepper the slopes of White Mountain region. Search for a favorite artist’s gallery, boutique clothing store, or sidewalk bistro. Prowl the back mountain roads and find all of the ancient covered bridges that are still standing today. The Honeymoon Covered Bridge, named for the tradition of lovers kissing underneath it for luck, is the entrance to the tiny town of Jackson, NH. The town, among many things, is known for its annual snow-sculpture festival. Participants create elaborate, impossible works of art that disappear with the coming of a warm spring.

We rented the Green One for a week long trip up the coast to Acadia and Deer Isle. The van was the perfect way for us to see a lot of the area and spend tons of time outdoors (but protected from the rain). Tim was always super prompt with communication, and very friendly. He gave us a full run down of the vehicle, and everything it was outfitted with before we took off. The van is very well appointed with everything you need for cooking and staying comfortable. We had a blast and hope to explore more of Maine this way!

This is the perfect little camper for one or two. I had everything I needed all in one. Not to big to easily drive around any city and comfortable inside with tons of room to relax in. I would rent this every time for a trip to Maine. I went to Acadia and had an amazing time. 10/10 would recommend this for anyone! I'm so grateful for this little camper and working with Tim was easy. Very responsive and on time for pickup and delivery!
