Getting Outdoors

Palisades Interstate Park contains over 30 miles of hiking and ski trails, with two main trails making up the majority of the trail system. The Long Path is one of the main trails and travels along the top of the cliffs, offering great views of the river below. The Shore Trail is the other main trails in the park, and as the name suggests, runs below the cliffs along the shore of the river. There are five smaller trails that connect the Long Trail to the Shore Trail, which offer New York campers the ability to swap between the two.

Boating on the Hudson River offers a great escape from city life. There is a boat ramp located within the park that can be used for jet skis, registered trailer towed boats, and canoes, and kayaks. Canoes and kayaks are also able to be launched from the beach areas along the shores. Boating is a beautiful way to spend the day if you rent a camper near Palisades Interstate State Park, offering a different way to explore the shoreline, with a backdrop of city skyscrapers.

Fishing and crabbing are allowed along the seawall and shoreline of the river, including the picnic areas and along the shore trail. Common fish species caught include striped bass, catfish, eels, white perch, tomcod, and blue clawed crab. After a day fishing, visitors are able to enjoy a bite to eat in one of the large four large picnic areas. Grills are provided in the picnic areas, making them a great place for a BBQ with friends before heading back to an RV rental, especially thanks to the surrounding scenic views.
