Aside from the splendid beaches in Nags Head, there are dozens of magnificent parks, forests, and reserves in the Outer Banks and its surrounding area. Jockey’s Ridge State Park is one place you don’t want to miss out on when you rent an RV in Nags Head. This state park is one of the most popular in all of North Carolina and features a massive sand dune that ranks among the tallest in the country. There is a lush maritime forest in addition to the sand dune ecosystem that is vital for the wildlife that calls it home. The dunes are great for hang gliding and guests feel as though they have been dropped into the Sahara Desert when climbing the sandy ridges.
