Castalia is a small, charming village in Erie County, Ohio. This tiny community is considered part of the Sandusky Metropolitan Area and is found approximately halfway between the cities of Toledo and Cleveland. Castalia was once a thriving Wyandot native settlement before the encroaching French colonial powers sought to dominate the Ohio Territory. When the Wyandot people burnt their own village to the ground and relocated to a different area, they vacated an amazing location that was soon reclaimed by settlers. After 1836, Castalia was formally laid out and planned, and the residents named the settlement after a Greek mythological creature who was transformed into the fountain of Delphi by Apollo.
