The local city of Mansfield is only a short drive away from Pleasant Hill Lake and offers campers a plethora of day trip opportunities. For lovers of animals and the natural world, a visit to the ‘Ohio Bird Sanctuary’ is a must. Visitors will be delighted with many different species of birds, from songbirds to birds of prey. They are all housed at this sanctuary awaiting rehabilitation after sustaining injuries. Take a walk around the aviaries and learn about how the birds are cared for, and what it takes before they can be released back into the wild. This is a non-profit organization and is rarely found anywhere else, a must-visit when in the city.
