If you're the kind of person who wakes up thinking, “Gee, maybe I’ll do a bit of treasure hunting today,” you're not alone, and you're in luck. Daingerfield State Park is set up for geocaching. Geocaching is a great way to explore the park and discover new areas using an interactive treasure map on your phone or GPS device provided by the park. Previous hunters have hidden treasures in various spots of the park, and it’s up to you to find them! Put on your sunscreen, grab your equipment, and hit the trails in search of your very own small treasures, or plant some of your own with the park rangers' permission. Two hiking trails wind their way through the park. For an easier hike, try the Rustling Leaves Trail. This two-and-a-half mile walk has an easy difficulty rating and takes you around Lake Daingerfield. There's even a loop on the south side where you can see the park from a completely different angle. This trail goes through what the locals call the Cathedral of the Trees. For a more challenging hike, the Mountain View Trail is only a mile long, but it will send you to the highest point in the park, where you'll be rewarded with breathtaking views. Please hike with caution on this trail. Campers at Daingerfield State Park will find plenty of water activities at the park’s 80-acre namesake lake. Motorboats are welcome on the lake; just please adhere to the 5 mph speed limit. Human-powered boats also have full access to the park, and if you didn’t bring your own, you can rent one on the grounds year-round. Swimming and fishing are also encouraged at Lake Daingerfield. In accordance with the Texas state laws, anglers do not need a license to fish off a boat or on the shore. Fishing fanatics have access to the fishing pier as well.
