Thirty miles outside of San Antonio to the southwest along Interstate 35, is the community of Devine, whose slogan states “The Name Says It All”. This divine rural settlement was established in 1881 and is named for the honorable Judge Thomas Jefferson Devine of San Antonio. The city primarily relied upon growing corn, cotton, and other small vegetables for its early years, until oil and natural gas were discovered nearby.
Even though this small town has a small population, it has lots of heart, a fact that is stated on the sign that welcomes new people into Devine. When you book an RV in Devine, the spectacular scenery of South Texas and the convenience of nearby San Antonio ensures the best of both worlds for vacationers.
Devine is surrounded by epic desert landscapes and beautiful wilderness, but you won't find much in town as far as parks are concerned. Devine City Park is a public green space in town for people to convene and enjoy the great outdoors. The park has a series of park benches, picnic tables, playscapes, and a large open grassy space for people to throw a frisbee or walk their dogs.
Chaparral Wildlife Management Area is the closest place outside of town to bring your Devine camper rental for camping, and bicycling, hunting, fishing, and hiking. The massive brushlands area was once a cattle ranch that has since been donated to the state.

In Big Bend, there are also quite a few dinosaur fossils to be found in the park.
Devine may be a bit small for people hoping to see big city attractions, but there are a few notable exceptions. The historic downtown section in the center of town is full of old western style buildings reminiscent of a spaghetti western film. The old Adams Company Lumber Yard building is one example of elegant brickwork that the area is known for. The Stroud Blacksmith Shop and the Bigfoot Wallace Museum are also some of the oldest buildings in town worth seeing. The Shooting Star Museum is a unique institution that features some old antique vehicles like planes, trucks, and automobiles.
If you need more excitement, you will have to head to San Antonio in your Devine RV rental. Six Flags Fiesta is located between San Antonio and Devine. The amusement park is known for its epic roller coasters and live music entertainment. The Alamo is one of the most famous attractions in Texas and perhaps the United States, and well worth a visit. This cherished piece of history is a point of pride for San Antonio and was the site of one of the most important battles in American history.
