Getting Outdoors

One of the most popular activities for those that are motorhome camping in the Kemper Park area is to take a walk on the Saunders-Monticello Trail. On the trail, you'll pass stunning native hardwood forests and deep ravines, all with a backdrop of the Blueridge Mountains. It is a very manageable 4 miles long and is mostly flat the whole way, so you don't have to be an experienced hiker to tackle the trail, plus it is accessible to cyclists and those in a wheelchair.

Camping at Kemper Park

One of the most well-known places to go camping with an RV near the city and Kemper Park is Charlottesville KOA. Make use of the large pool, sports field, games room, and pedal karts, as well as a whole range of regular, organized activities. There is a range of campsites to choose from depending on what type of RV rental you have, but all have 50 max amp, WiFi, and cable TV.

Exploring the Area

Kemper Park lies just outside of Charlottesville, meaning there is plenty to do. The Historic Downtown Mall should be one of your first stops. It is a beautifully maintained, pedestrian shopping, dining, and entertainment mall in the very heart of the city. There are over 120 shops and over 30 restaurants to choose from, all housed in historic buildings along tree-lined streets. During the summer months, the outside seating areas are packed, and there are some beautiful fountains to see in the area as well.

We had a great time on a mini getaway down the blue ridge parkway as a family with young kids in this very spacious camper that was easy to pull with our Toyota 4Runner. Christian stocked the camper with all the basics we needed to cook meals and sleep comfortably. We didn't have power hook-ups at our campsite but everything essential (heat, fridge, lights) were powered fine on the battery and propane. My kids enjoyed the converted bunk beds. We kept the camper water tank dry and didn't use the sink, bathroom, or shower so can't speak to those amenities but on a longer trip I could see those being great to have. We appreciate that Christian was very flexible around pick up and drop off. And he was responsive to any questions we had during our trip.
