Shenandoah Acres Family Campground

While RV camping at Shenandoah Acres Family Campground, you will be surrounded by the unparalleled beauty of Blue Ridge Mountains, and one of the jewels of the region that can be reached in less than an hour's drive is the campground’s namesake – Shenandoah National Park. Hikers are in for a nice surprise – there are hundreds of miles of trails meandering through the park, and a portion of the Appalachian Trail just over 100 miles long is one of them. If you are chasing wonderful panoramic views, drive or ride your bike along the Skyline Drive. Clear mountain streams are waiting for anglers to cast a line and they offer refreshment for the backcountry campers who chose the road less traveled. After a day filled with challenges and exciting activities, sit back by the fire, and enjoy the unobstructed view of the night sky. Another RV camping haven of Virginia, Lake Anna State Park can be reached after a couple of hours’ drive to the east. The lake itself is the heart of the park, calling for swimmers to test its waters and anglers to see what fish are hiding inside. Hikers, bikers, and horseback riders can explore the wooded part of the park, while visitors who want to take it slow can do exactly that at one of the picnic areas. A unique thing about the park is that it is located on a land famous for being rich with gold – campers can take a tour of the Goodwin Gold Mine and join a gold panning program. Spending a few hours in your rental RV on the road southeast is definitely worth it – that is how long you need to find yourself on the scenic shores of the Chesapeake Bay and First Landing State Park. Standing at the spot where the English colonists first landed, it will blow you away with the variety of habitats found in one place, from maritime forests and lagoons to bald cypress swamps. Beachgoers will be thrilled to find that they can step both on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic Ocean and go for a swim in their waters. Hiking, biking, and discovering Native American history are also waiting for you at this wonderful park.
