Stoney Creek Resort Campground

Whether you love water sports or land activities, a visit to Douthat State Park will certainly be a highlight of your campervan rental vacation. This stunning state park occupies seven square miles within the Allegheny Mountains of Virginia. The rugged landscape is threaded with over 40 miles of hiking and biking trails and six miles of equestrian trails. Using the four-mile Stoney Run Trail or the more challenging Blue Suck Falls Trail, hikers can reach either of the park's two waterfalls. Meanwhile, the park’s 50-acre lake is the perfect spot for boating. There are canoes, kayaks, and paddleboards available to rent as well as hydro bikes for those who want to try something new. Shenandoah State Park will also be a highlight of your vacation when you book an RV in Augusta County. The 1,600-acre park offers five miles of shoreline and over 24 miles of multi-use trails. You can park your rental RV and explore the land by foot, bike, or horse. There are multiple river access points so visitors can canoe, kayak, or tube on tranquil sections of the Shenandoah River. The hardwood forest has something for adrenaline seekers too, a zip line canopy tour. If swinging between treetops is a little too adventurous, there are also ATV trail rides, rappelling tours, and guided nature hikes. While exploring, you can also look out for black bears, bald eagles, and scarlet tanager. Shenandoah State Park is brimming with wildlife and native plant types. Another popular place to take the family is James River State Park. Set into the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the park is just over 90 minutes' drive away when you’re camping at Stoney Creek Resort Campground. It offers 15 miles of multi-use trails as well as paddle sports equipment rentals. For hikers and bikers, the best viewpoint in the park is the Tye River Overlook. Here you can see where the Tye and James rivers meet in front of a gorgeous mountain backdrop. Visitors who prefer to get their feet wet can float on an inner tube or paddle a canoe or kayak for up to eight miles on the river.
