When you’re looking for a place to camp in an RV near Summersville Lake, drive to the Mountain Lake Campground and Cabins. The campground has 250 campsites, and features include pull-thru sites, big rig access, tent camping, 30 and 50 amp electric service, and water. Campers have access to restrooms, showers, laundry facilities, a camp store, and a café. There’s a swimming pool for kids to splash around in, along with a playground for their entertainment. Pets are welcome at this pet-friendly campsite, so bring your furry friends along.

Exploring the Area

About forty-five miles from Summersville Lake is the town of Beckley. Nestled in the Appalachian Mountains, Beckley is known for its natural beauty, mountain views coupled with gushing streams that make for a scenic experience.

Visit the Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine to get an insight into the history of mining in the region. You can tour a real coal mine and check out the mining equipment that was used, along with lessons on the mining process.

Close by is the Beckley Youth Museum that features four boxcars with different exhibits covering science, art, and history. Don’t miss the recreated mountain homestead that will give you an idea of what life was like for the early residents of the area.
