Discover Long Lake RV rentals for memorable road trips

Originally when three distinct lakes that were formed around 12,000 years ago as the last great glacier gouged its way north, in 1883, an entrepreneur purchased the land and dammed one of the lakes. As the water rose, it joined all three lakes, and thus Long Lake, WI, was born. Prior to the arrival of European settlers, the region was inhabited by several Native American tribes, including Chippewa, Sioux, and a couple of other minor offshoots. Today, Long Lake is a popular recreational boating and fishing spot. The eastern side of the lake is often used by local scouting groups to teach their troops outdoor survival and camping basics.

Getting Outdoors

Long Lake, which resembles a crudely drawn fishing hook, encompasses around 3,300 acres and is 19 miles long. The spring-fed lake is supplemented by various small creeks and brooks. Four public boat landings, two marinas, and several boat-rental services invite fishing and boating fun on the lake. There’s plenty of room to spread out if one seeks solitude and quiet. In addition to northern pike, which is very abundant, anglers can expect to catch largemouth bass, panfish, and walleye. Although smallmouth bass is present, they can be a challenge to find.

Camping at Long Lake

Skip the hotels and wake up surrounded by nature. In the comfort of a rental camper, listen to the sound of the wind in the trees, birdsong, and the croaks of frogs. Most of the camping available to the public are dispersed-only. RV camp by Brill River, which feeds into Long Lake. The aptly-named River’s Edge Campground near Birchwood is close to a popular ATV park with over 100 miles of trails and offers partial hookups, fire rings, and hot showers.

The adventure basecamp worked very well for our family reunion at a family cabin, giving extra sleeping and nap space. The camper was in great condition, great space inside, air conditioner and other amenities in good working order. Beau was great to work with, timely deliver and pickup, fair price for the size and condition of the camper. The only issue was the mothball smell remaining from winter storage which caused a problem for a pregnant family member. Reservations and payments were easy through Outdoorsy.
