Aside from rare bald eagles, patient visitors can also spot osprey, hawks, and vultures flying above the lush green landscape. Spring and fall are the peak seasons for bird watching, and most overlooks are accessible by marked hiking trails, four of which are suitable for cross-country skiing during the winter time. For more winter sports, you can take your ice skates and drive east on Highway 30 to Marsh Creek State Park in Downingtown. In the winter, the 535-acre state park freezes over to form a natural ice rink. You can also find two cross country skiing routes within the park and seven acres of the hillside which is perfect for sledding. In the warmer months, Marsh Creek State Park is a great spot for picnics, swimming, and wind sailing. There are also 11.5 miles of mountain biking trails and 18 miles of hiking trails through mixed habitats, most of which are accessible from the western branch of the park.
