Let's start with a few questions to narrow down your options.

Lake Superior is one of the largest of the five Great Lakes. It is also one of the largest lakes in the world. It is so big, in fact, that it was called "Great Sea" by the people who first came to this land. The lake's shores touch the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and Wisconsin, as well as a portion of Canada.
Due to its size, there are numerous locations surrounding it that can be explored on an outdoor adventure. Whitefish Point, Michigan, located on a spit of land that juts into the southeastern corner of the lake from Michigan's Upper Peninsula, is a great destination for a family-fun excursion.
This area is very rural and is comprised mostly of thick, pine forest. The small town of Paradise, MI, sits around 10 miles south of Whitefish Point. The nearest larger town found in this area is Sault Ste. Marie, almost 60 miles to the southeast while the state's capital, Lansing, is over 300 miles to the south.
