RV rental Holliday Lake State Park, VA: Motorhome rentals, camper van rentals and more

With a scenic lake right on your doorstep when you camp in this beautiful state park, it makes perfect sense that many of the most popular activities are water sports. If you're visiting in summer, the best way to kick off your stay is to go for a swim in Holliday Lake. Lifeguards patrol the swimming area from Memorial Day weekend until Labor Day, but you can also swim at your own risk outside these times. The lake offers an excellent way to cool off at the height of summer, and a bathhouse and snack bar are located nearby. If you'd rather get out on the water, you might like to rent a boat. The park offers kayaks, canoes, stand-up paddleboards, paddleboats, and jon boats for hire from early April until the end of October, ensuring that there's something to keep campers of all ages happy. There's even a self-guided trail — the Sunfish Aquatic Trail — to help you take in some of the best local scenery. While you're out exploring the lake, try your luck catching a fish or two. Crappie, catfish, chain pickerel, and yellow perch can all be caught here, but take note that only electric motors are allowed on the lake. You'll also need a valid Virginia fishing license before you wet a line. The other main activity in Holliday Lake State Park is hiking. There are seven trails to explore, with a range of routes to suit different fitness levels. If you're looking for something quick and easy, the Dogwood Ridge Trail starts and ends at Redbud Campground. The Lakeshore Trail offers a much longer challenge at just under six and a half miles, not to mention some beautiful vistas of the lake. And if you're feeling particularly adventurous, you can take the Carter Taylor Connector Trail to link up with a 10.2-mile loop trail in the Appomattox-Buckingham State Forest.
