Discover Akron RV rentals for memorable road trips

Akron, Colorado takes its name from the large city of Akron in Ohio. This tiny frontier town was one of the first places settled in all of Colorado back when settlers were creeping farther and farther west in pursuit of prosperity and happiness. The town is a 90-minute drive from both Denver and Fort Collins and is one of the few population centers in the remote grasslands of eastern Colorado.

Explore the Outdoors

If you have spent any time in Colorado’s front range, or the Rocky Mountains themselves, you will find that Akron hardly feels like it is part of Colorado. Despite its high elevation, the area surrounding it is largely flat with few landmarks to demarcate location. While you might have to drive a bit to catch a glimpse of the Rocky Mountains, there are some great parks to explore in eastern Colorado that are often overlooked. North Sterling State Park is one of the places you can visit when you rent an RV in eastern Colorado. Here you can enjoy some camping on the edges of North Sterling Lake. This massive reservoir has several miles of hiking trails along its shores and several boat ramps for boat owners to use. There are over 100 campsites to choose from, several swimming beaches, a visitor center, and tons of fish to catch and cook up over a campfire. Jackson Lake State Park is quite similar to North Sterling State Park and has its own lake. The lake is also a man-made reservoir created by diverting water from the South Platte River for irrigation purposes. Fishing, hunting, birdwatching, and off-road driving are popular pastimes while visiting this Colorado park, and there are campsites where you can park your Akron camper rental.

RV Parks to Visit

Akron has no campgrounds or RV parks right in town, so hitting the road is the way to go when it comes to finding a place to set up camp. Country Comfort Motel & RV Park is an option in Fort Morgan, right in the middle of town. This park is within walking distance of several shops and restaurants.

City Sightseeing

When you book a camper rental in Akron, CO, you won't find a bustling city center. The town itself is quite lovely but you need to head to the nearest city, Fort Morgan if you want to see some attractions.

We had a wonderful stay at this VR! The place was very clean, well-organized, and fully equipped with everything we needed. Fresh towels, clean bedding, and comfortable beds with new blankets made our stay extra cozy. The kitchen was perfect—stocked with all the essentials including pots, plates, cups, utensils, a stove, fridge, and oven. Every detail was well thought out and truly made us feel at home.
