If it's a nice quiet campground you're looking for when in Muncie, Indiana, then you'll want to check in to Big Oak Park where, as the name suggests, the abundance of really big old oak trees will give you plenty of shade from the summer heat The same trees are also quite effective at blocking out a good amount of city and highway noise. Close enough to the highway for easy access, and just 4 miles off the interstate, Big Oak Park offers reasonably level, grassy pull throughs with ample elbow room, lots of shade, and picnic tables. Hookups include 30 and 50 amp electric, plus water and sewer. The owners are very friendly and hospitable, and if you call ahead they will reserve a site for you and meet you on arrival to direct you in, unless you would rather just arrive and pick your own site. The park is pet friendly, however the campground is rather rustic, so there are are no amenities to speak of.
Mounds State Park, located off I-69 east of Anderson, features 10 unique earthworks built by prehistoric Indians known as the Adena-Hopewell people. The largest earthwork, the Great Mound, is believed to have been constructed around 160 B.C. Archaeological surveys indicate the mounds were used as gathering for religious ceremonies, from where astronomical alignments could be viewed. RV Camping sites features pull-through sites, big rig access, tent camping, restrooms, showers. Facilities include hookups and connectivity, 30 amp/ 50 amp, water, sewer, and wi-fi. This is a family friendly environment. Pets are welcome. Recreational opportunities include walking trails, recreation room, gym/workout facilities, beach access, marina, and boat ramp. During the summer, the swimming pool and splash pad are open, and in the winter, you can sled down the hills. Mounds State Park is the perfect spot for an RV vacation. The Park has everything you need to make your stay cozy and comfortable. You can enjoy the peace and serenity of the Park and you are only minutes away from Anderson.
