Discover Peru RV rentals for memorable road trips

Peru is the county seat of Miami County, Indiana and was established in 1834. It was developed from a section of the town of Miamisport and quickly became the more influential of the two communities while Miamisport faded into history. The town has had several historical events of importance. In 1913, the town experienced a flood that destroyed everything in its path. The year of 1933 saw John Dillinger's gang rob the Peru Police Department armory, making off with guns and bulletproof vests. Peru is home to the International Circus Hall of Fame and has been the winter host at various times to numerous famous circuses such as the Ringling Brothers. It is the annual host of the Peru Amateur Circus, held in July and featuring amateurs from the ages of seven to 21.

The Great Outdoors

Tippecanoe River State Park is a popular destination for hiking and horseback riding; there are miles of trails, some of which are restricted to hiking only. Visitors can wander through the forests and alongside streams; a 90-foot fire tower, built in the 1930s, offers guests an unrestricted view of the surrounding area. The trails are rated from easy to moderate in difficulty. Guests can also canoe or kayak the park river and can rent the canoes or kayaks locally. Bird, wildlife, and nature watching can also be done here, from the trails or the water.

RV Parks

There are numerous RV parks and campgrounds in the area surrounding Peru, and some of them may have mobile homes or long-term guests. Your Peru camper rental is all you will need to have a relaxing vacation no matter where you decide to stay.

Exploring The City

A good place to begin your adventure is with the museums; there are several in the city, and one of them is dedicated to the American Huey helicopter and memorabilia from the Vietnam War. It is staffed by volunteers; visitors may have a chance to go for a ride in the helicopters which have been refurbished. There is an air museum that is a tribute to the Grissom AFB and the men and women of the armed forces; it has tours, exhibits, and flight simulators. Another museum focuses on the history of Miami County, with archeological artifacts, circus relics, and a 1955 Fleetwood Cadillac that once belonged to composer Cole Porter, who was born in Peru. Be sure and take your Peru motorhome rental for a spin while you can, it's one of the unique perks of an RV vacation.

When we embarked on our first camping adventure, we were not sure what we were doing. The first right decision we made was to rent a camper from Brennan! The camper was beautiful and supplied with most everything we needed. We definitely cooked and lived in the camper -- not just slept in the camper. My husband is a big muscular guy and couldn't fit in the shower, so we used the campground showers -- which worked out well. Even when the heater didn't work in 30 degree temps, Brennan was there to help and always answered our questions along the way. The only advice we gave her was to provide an updated list of what she supplied because we brought more than we needed! She thought of everything and we are grateful and blessed to have been able to share her "home" for a week!

The camper was great; the floor plan was perfect for our needs. The set-up on the site was great! However, our host forgot to give us the access code to unlock the camper which caused us some delay with our 5 young grandchildren in tow. Also, the propane tank ran out in the middle of the first night leaving us without heat in mid 30-degree outside temperatures. Upon inspection, both propane tanks were empty. Other than that, we enjoyed the camper.
