Loch Raven Reservoir is located in northern Maryland, between the cities of Baltimore, MD, Washington, DC, and Philadelphia, PA. The reservoir was constructed in 1914 by the damming and impounding of the Big Gunpowder Falls River. Loch Raven Reservoir was originally built to provide the city of Baltimore with drinking water and was extended as the city grew.
