HooDoo Point Campground

Exploring such a large area can be a daunting prospect, and there are several state parks in the area that will make exploring much easier. The nearest park, Bear Head Lake State Park, features dense woodlands surrounding the 650-acre Bear Head Lake. This park is perfect for hiking, and during your hike, you should keep an eye out for local wildlife such as bald eagles, black bears, chipmunks, and more. If you'd rather enjoy the vast lake, the gentle water is perfect for canoeing, and if you're looking to catch some fish, you can hook walleye, trout, crappie, and more. Another nearby park worth visiting is McCarthy Beach State Park. This scenic state park is located on Sturgeon Lake and features one of the best freshwater beaches in the country. The half-mile-long beach is popular thanks to the lake's shallow water, which extends far off the shore before getting deeper. Miles of trails lead through the woods and up hills, and during your walk, keep an eye out for some of the park's 170 different species of birds. Some of the park's wildlife include great blue herons, black bears, and white-tailed deer. When you rent a motorhome in northern Minnesota, you may want to branch out and see one of the parks along Lake Superior. Tettegouche State Park is one of the closest to the HooDoo Point Campground and features cliffs and rocky bluffs overlooking Lake Superior and the Baptism River. Due to the abundance of cliffs in the park, this area is a favorite spot for rock climbing and hiking, with the cliffs offering beautiful panoramic views of the region. Birdwatching is another popular pastime, and there have been over 50 different species observed at the park, including woodpeckers, kinglets, and finches.
