Eagles Rest RV Park

Just south of the RV campground is the stunning Nebraska National Forest. A little unexpected in the Great Plains, this forest can withstand the high winds and occasionally dry climate of the region. With many networks of trails to explore, you can immerse yourself in this unique landscape. Stroll along the shores of the Loup River and try your luck with the local fishing scene. The area is also a popular stopover point for birds, so bring your binoculars. Experience a lush prairie landscape with a trip to Oglala National Grassland. This stretch of prairie receives plenty of rain throughout the year, meaning that the grasses are rich, the wildflowers are plentiful, and the wildlife is abundant. Traverse some of the most picturesque prairie lands and keep an eye out for some local inhabitants, such as swift foxes and prairie dogs. And thanks to Oglala’s proximity to the foothills of the mountains of South Dakota, the geology of the grassland starts to transition, with several small geologic formations breaking out of the ground, creating an even more stunning landscape. Just over the Nebraska-South Dakota border is Wind Cave National Park in Hot Springs. Above the surface, this national park is home to stretching prairies, foothills, and a quintessential American Great Plains landscape. You might see bison roaming, or a random prairie dog scurrying into a burrow. However, beneath the surface, is an entirely different world. One of the largest cave systems in the country is open to those wishing to do a little exploring off the beaten path. With unique cave formations and wildlife all its own, get yourself a ticket to go underground and see the various sections of the cave. Travel a little farther in the rental rig and spend some time at Badlands National Park and Black Hills National Forest (home of Mount Rushmore). Both are within easy driving distance of Eagle's Nest RV Park.
