The Agate Fossil Beds National Monument is located near Harrison, NE, in the northwest corner of the state. The park is situated only about 30 miles from the state border with Wyoming and only around 80 miles south of the South Dakota state line. The nearest larger town is Chadron, NE, found around 75 miles to the northeast, while the nearest larger city is Casper, WY, at over 150 miles to the west.

This is a very rural part of the country. Surrounded by prairie grasslands and badlands-type rock formations, when you visit this area, you will understand what true solitude feels like. The monument was a former paleontological dig where numerous fossils of long-extinct creatures, such as dinosaurs and large beavers, were found.

Robidoux RV Park is in Gering. Campsites that offer cable, WiFi, and hookups are available here. There are also bathrooms, showers, and a laundry room in a clubhouse that also has a full kitchen. Basketball courts and a playground for the kids are available, as well. Exploring the Area

When you book an RV in Sioux County, you will find all sorts of unique places to visit. The Hudson-Meng Bison Kill is found near Harrison. At this location in the late 1960s, a rancher was digging a hole to help get water for his stock animals. He came upon what turned out to be one of the world's largest collections of bison bones. How so many bison bodies came to be buried here remains a mystery. State park RV camping will make it easy to check out all the interesting things to do around the nearby region.

The Toadstool Geologic Park is found in the nearby badlands. They sit in what was once an ancient riverbed. Here, strange rock formations can be viewed that were formed by erosion from both water and wind. Hiking is an option here as well, including a trail that connects with the Hudson-Meng Bison Kill site.

The Fort Robinson History Museum is also in town. This former military fort offers historical information on the US Government's interactions with local American Indian tribes in this area, during the 1800s. There is a book and gift shop in the museum that features books regarding the history of the fort. Many products produced by members of the local tribes are available for purchase as well. Scenic drives, horseback, and jeep tours are also available here, and there is a restaurant on-site.
