Follow a fabled and scenic road through some of New York state?s most iconic landmarks to find Black Bear Campground, nestled in the forested countryside near no less than two state parks. Starting in White Plains, the route east along Interstate 294 takes you past Tarrytown of Sleepy Hollow fame, over the Hudson River, and finally through the vast expanse of Harriman State Park to reach the campground in scenic Orange County. This is the closest full-service RV park to New York City, but the wooded environment and quiet ambiance never gives that away. There?s plenty of tourist information available on the site, for both the city and the surrounding wilderness, and while visiting you can enjoy plenty of modern amenities. Every spacious site has full utility hookups, fire rings, and picnic tables. The venue is connected to several hiking trails and nature walks, and if you want to relax near your home on wheels, there?s a swimming pool, game room, basketball court, and scheduled special events hosted by the park.
A county run park this is the smart choice for families looking to visit New York City in a RV rental without all the crazy traffic and stress. located north of the city along the Hudson River the park offers full hookup RV sites that are easy to get in to and out of in a RV rental. Best news is that you can walk 1 mile to the train depot and ride the Metro North right in to Grand Central station. Return to your RV rental at night and relax in peace and quiet.
Ellis Island is an example of America?s immigrant history. Once the nation's busiest immigrant inspection station from 1892 until 1954, it is now home to an immigration museum which showcases the cultural heritage of those that came to the U.S. You can also visit the statue of Liberty.
Would you like to explore Mount Vernon in New York? The nearest RV Park is just 17 miles away in Jersey City, with easy access into New York. It's called Liberty Harbor Park, and you can be assured of a warm welcome here. You get full hookup, restrooms with showers, a laundry facility, and 24-hour security. Once in Mount Vernon, there are plenty of shops, bars, and restaurants to keep you occupied. For the history buffs amongst you, don't miss visiting St. Paul's Church National Historic Site.
Only a twenty minute drive from Hempstead, New York will take you to the famous, white sand beaches of the Atlantic Ocean. Enjoy the preserved natural beauty of a tranquil seaside without giving up modern conveniences at Nickerson Beach Park, convenient to both Long Beach and several green spaces along the coast. Guests are welcome to experience swimming, hiking or bird-watching along this lovely seaside, which is also a nature preserve for local flora and fauna. Some parts of the beach may be closed off at certain times of the year to protest nesting seabirds. Amenities at this venue include a food concession, two swimming pools, a seaside pitch and putt, several fields for team sports like soccer, a skate park, a fully accessible comfort station, and barbecue and picnic facilities. The campground also hosts special events on holidays. The park is designed for both tents and RVs, and has 74 RV sites with water and electrical hookups. 66 of those sites also have sewage hookups.
Probably the oldest and largest collection of natural history in the world, can be found here. Its well known Great Hall of Dinosaurs attracts many visitors,and includes the remains of a juvenile Brontosaurus and a 110 foot long mural about the time of the dinosaurs. The museum also exhibits work that shows the evolution of humans and mammals. The world renowned collections include the vertebrate paleontology, and the Bingham collection of Incan artifacts from Machu Picchu.

The Central Railroad of New Jersey Terminal, a historic transportation building can be found here. From here you can take Statue Cruises which offer ferries to Statue of Liberty National Monument, Ellis Island and Liberty Island.
