The sanctuary is an Audubon Center and is associated with the Important Bird Areas program, a conservation effort focusing on at-risk bird species. The sanctuary has a native garden where you can enjoy the flowers and other plants in a cultivated setting and trails for you to enjoy hiking.

There aren't any facilities for camping at Sagamore Hill NHS, but there a few options within a short traveling distance of the site. Battle Row Campground, near Bethpage, is a county-run RV and tent camping ground with limited or primitive hookup options for you to choose from. Lyndsay was very thoughtful and responded right away. We literally didn’t have to bring anything other than our clothes and food. The camper was ready for us before we arrived. Lyndsay and her brother set up a fire pit with s’mores and chairs. A BBQ and even a pizza oven with a kit to make our own pizza. This was our first time camping and the kids absolutely loved it. This van was absolutely the STAR of my trip. I lived out of it for a week straight - every detail was thought of when stocking it so I was prepared for just about everything! The roof tent is also the easiest thing to set up and take down. Was very convenient as I still needed to use the van for transportation on my trip. Communication for pickup/dropoff were also 10/10. I will definitely be renting again in the future!
