Discover Honey Grove RV rentals for memorable road trips

The town of Honey Grove, Texas is a relatively short drive northeast of the Dallas metropolitan area. Nicknamed “The Sweetest Town in America,” it got its start in the mid-1800s by none other than American folk hero Davy Crockett. Not long before his demise at the Alamo, he is said to have traveled there and found a beautiful grove of trees populated by honeybees and thereby claimed that he would settle near it.

The Great Outdoors

It should come as no surprise that the vast state of Texas has plenty of great places for outdoor recreation. One of the closest places to visit when you have a motorhome rental in Honey Grove is Bonham State Park just outside the town of Bonham. The not-so-creatively named Bonham State Park Lake is at the center of the green space and is popular for swimming and fishing. The area around the lake consists of rolling hills with a few pleasant trails to stroll around.

RV Parks

One of the closest places to stay when you rent an RV in North Texas is Sierra RV Park, a little outside the town of Telephone. Sites are equipped with electrical hookups, laundry facilities, horseshoe pits for game night with the family, and a dog park, where your four-legged companions can run free. It’s situated in a beautiful woodland setting, so this is one of the better places to camp if you love outdoor adventure.

Exploring the City

When you get a camper rental in Honey Grove, one of the best places to learn about its history is at the Fannin County Museum of History in downtown Bonham. It’s not very big but has been rated as one of the best small town museums in Texas. Outside is a massive red caboose representing the area’s importance to the frontier railroads that opened up the West for settlement. Inside, you’ll find a city fire engine from 1918, an exhibit honoring the residents lost to World War I, and a display focusing on women’s history in Texas including many home appliances used throughout the past century.

Kaylee and Will's camper as perfect for our little family. My daughter loved having her own room. Great open space, kitchen, master bedroom and was stocked with everything we needed. We will certainly book with them again.
