An RV rental in Brown County will put you in the center of Texas, and southwest of Fort Worth. In this county, there is much to explore, and by taking advantage of state park RV camping and staying at Lake Brownwood State Park, you’ll have access to all of it. This state park was originally founded in 1934 and was built with the help of the Civil Works Administration, a government program that helped give local people work on public projects.

Lake Brownwood State Park is made up of over 500 acres of land that is filled with trails, a lake, many streams, and diverse wildlife. The park is near to many locally large towns like Abilene and San Angelo, so even while enjoying the great outdoors you’ll still have access to modern amenities and conveniences. Be sure to check out all of the CCC constructed buildings and structures while exploring the park, many of which were quarried locally and built by hand.

Getting Outdoors

Texas is a wonderful destination to enjoy the outdoors, contrary to movies and TV shows, the majority of the state isn’t all desert and tumbleweeds. Camping at Lake Brownwood State Park goes hand in hand with enjoying all of its activities, the most prominent of them being access to Lake Brownwood. This large lake contains over 7,000 surface acres of water, and is a great place to fish, boat, and swim when the weather is pleasant. Guests can catch crappie, perch, catfish, and bass, so long as they have up to date licenses.

Surrounding the lake, and throughout the park itself, are many interweaving trails that offer a stupendous way to explore the outdoors. These trails cover more than six miles in total, so when you arrange for an RV rental near Lake Brownwood State Park, be sure to bring your hiking shoes. Along the trails are many stone benches that were built by the CCC, and some of the trails can also be biked on during specific seasons.

An easy way to keep the family busy while exploring the park is by watching: watching for birds and wildlife, watching for geocaches, and watching sunrises and sunsets over the lake. Much diverse wildlife can be found in the park, including deer, ducks, raccoons, armadillos and more. There are large collections of wildflowers in groves, many types of birds to spot, and many pleasant spaces to spot them from.
