The city of Paris is only a short drive from Lake Crook and is a great place to explore while in Lamar County. Just like its French namesake, Paris, Texas is home to its very own Eiffel Tower. It was built by members of the local welders’ union in 1993 and is less than one-tenth the height of the 1,063-foot original. In true Texan style, a shiny red cowboy hat was added to the top of the spindle in 1998. The Eiffel Tower makes for a great destination to add on your day trip itinerary when visiting Paris. A visit after sunset will provide an altogether different experience. The tower has 27 thirty-watt LED lights which are programmed by color according to the season.
