Melissa is a city in Collin County, Texas, that was was settled as early as 1853 with the arrival of a post office. The town plan was laid out in 1872, at the same time as the arrival of the Houston and Texas Central Railroad. The town's economy was largely based on agriculture and the railroad was instrumental in shipping cattle, wood, hay, corn, and wheat to market. By 1900, Melissa had become an essential shipping point. The town flourished until the 1920s when two natural disasters wreaked havoc upon the town. The economy and population began to decline as a result. Today. Melissa is accessed by three major highways, State Highway 5, State Highway 121 and U.S. Route 75.

Greenville's economy was originally dependent to a large extent on cotton but today relies on tourism as an important source of revenue. Plano is one of the largest cities in Texas by population. Denton has an active music community and is the host for music events all year round; it was described by Huffington Post magazine as “an indie band factory”. Your Melissa travel trailer rental is your introduction to Collin County and the great state of Texas; how you proceed from there is entirely up to you.
