The Great Outdoors
One of the big attractions in Stonewall is its relationship with President Lyndon B. Johnson. There is a state park and historic site dedicated to him. This state park is ideal if you're looking to explore the outdoors without leaving Stonewall, and there are plenty of recreational activities on offer, including fishing and hiking. There's a lot of wildlife here as well, and hikers might spot critters like bison and white-tailed deer. Lyndon B. Johnson State Park and Historic Site also has a visitor's center and model lodge dedicated to teaching visitors about the life of Lyndon B. Johnson. Stonewall is a tiny place, so it doesn't offer many RV parks. However, one option that's available when you book an RV in Stonewall is Peach Country RV Park. This campground has about 50 gravel sites complete with full hookups. All these sites support 30 and 50 amp electric. There's also room for your big rig, with campsites that campers can pull through and extend their slide-outs. Essential amenities are on-site, including restrooms, laundry, and Wi-Fi.
Exploring the City
Being a sleepy town with a small population, Stonewall only offers the basics, such as groceries and gas; however, there are many excellent wineries which offer tastings. Anything extravagant can be found in the surrounding area, with Fredericksburg very close by and San Antonio not far south. A great family excursion is to the Animal World and Snake Farm Zoo in New Braunfels. This zoo offers a decent selection of rescued creatures, including jaguars, lemurs, and of course, a vast range of colorful snakes. Visitors can also book encounters with individual animals, including adorable fennec foxes and curious striped skunks.
