On the glittering waters of Lake Michigan, Racine’s location makes it easy to enjoy the many recreational activities perfect for the lake. You can rent a kayak, a canoe, or even a motorized boat to enjoy even more of the lake. At just over 22,000 square miles, there’s a lot to explore. Or, you can relax on the Racine North Beach and soak up some sun or maybe even play some beach volleyball. About an hour and a half to the north of town is the Kettle Moraine State Forest. Once covered by a giant, ancient glacier, the land of the Kettle Moraine State Forest is decorated with various geologic formations that are unlike anything else in the world. Some are dramatic outcrops and some, the moraines, are hollowed out pits. The favorite trail in the park is the Ice Age National Scenic Trail at 31 miles and showcases the most dramatic sections of the ancient glacier bed. If you don’t feel like hiking, you can take advantage of the various small lakes that have formed due to the moraines and do a little fishing or some boating. If you want to explore some of northern Wisconsin and want a quick little overnight trip with your Racine rental RV, about five hours to the north is Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. Covering about 1.5 millions acres, this magnificent stretch of land is divided into two parks, a western side and an eastern side. With towering pines and crystal clear rivers and streams, this perfectly preserved piece of Wisconsin is a wonderful place to go. With roughly 800 miles of trails laced throughout the impressive forest, you can choose from a variety of shorter trails or challenge yourself with an overnight backpacking hike. Or if it’s the midst of winter during your Racine motorhome rental vacation, you can try some cross-country skiing and feel like you’ve been transported to a one-of-a-kind winter wonderland as you ski through the picturesque pines.
