As the lake's name suggests Trout Lake is the best place for catching trout, and many record-breaking trout are caught here every year. As well as trout, the lake is also home to high numbers of walleye, rock bass, largemouth bass, northern pike, bluegill, and perch. Trout Lake campers wish to fish from the eighteen miles of shoreline or a boat out on the water; they will rarely be unsuccessful here.
Camping At Trout Lake
For those who wish to camp directly on the shores of Trout Lake, there are two choices. The first site is ‘South Trout Campground.' This campsite is located on the south-eastern shore, and although they offer no hookups for those RV camping, they do provide on-site restrooms, trash bins, and access to water. ‘North Trout Campground,' located on the northern shore, is similar in its provided facilities. The only difference in sites is that the northern campsite is ADA Accessible.

For those in the town of Eagle River, a visit to Northwoods Children’s Museum is a must. This interactive museum offers a wide range of exhibits perfectly designed and curated to interact with young children. One such exhibit is the ‘Energy Expedition,' this fully immersive room will get children thinking about alternative energy sources. Another exhibition involves the children in everything to do with the world of art, nowhere else will you find such a unique museum, directed towards children. This is a must-see museum for anyone in Eagle River, especially with young children.
