Formed around 12,000 years ago as the mile-high glacier retreated its way north at the end of the last ice age, White Sand Lake, in Wisconsin, is unique when compared to hundreds of other lakes in the region. The shores and the lakebed are relatively clear of massive boulders that litter the other nearby lakes. Instead, small pebble and stone moraine blanket the land. The densely-treed shores are shared by vacationers and outdoorsmen alike.
