Recommended RV Campgrounds and Attractions around Kentfield, CA
Everyone has heard of Alcatraz, the infamous prison that held some of America's most dangerous criminals. The subject of many films and books, Alcatraz has become a part of American culture, ingrained in our history and memory. As part of your visit to San Francisco, don't forget to schedule a tour of Alcatraz Island. Visit the site of so many stories and movies, and experience it, firsthand, for yourself, while also learning about the history behind it all.
Marin Park is the closest recreational vehicle park to San Francisco--just 10 miles north of the Golden Gate Bridge, and only 14 miles from Berkeley. If you need a break from driving you can take a ferry or bus into San Francisco. The Muir Woods, Napa and Sonoma Valley, and Pt. Reyes and many other California attractions are within reach. This park has been busy so may not be available for your RV rental trip but may be an option for the shake-down night out.
Nestled between Napa Valley and Sonoma Valley Wine regions, the Napa Valley Expo is the perfect base camp as you explore the tastes of the region. There are many unique wineries and specialty shops nearby. If you would like to learn how to make your own wine and beer then you could take a few lessons from Napa Fermentation Supplies. Everything here is within a 55 mile radius. For the kids you can visit Six Flags, Oakland Zoo, and for the rest of the crowd San Francisco, Sacramento and Infineon Raceway are within reach. This park is a great destination in your RV rental since the roads and pads are wide and easy to access.
Get close to one of the tallest and perhaps oldest living beings on our planet. The ancient coast redwood is an amazing tree which can grow to a diameter of 12-16 feet, and stand from 200-250 feet tall. You can enjoy a hike through the self-guided nature trails, have a picnic, or enjoy a special event at the large outdoor amphitheater.
Get away in your RV rental to a close by state beach over in Half Moon Bay. Incredible sunsets and easy access make this a great spot to take the RV rental. Lock in your advance reservations early as this park fills up fast. A friendly tip to save some cash is to reserve the interior sites versus the more expensive beach front sites. Same access and views at 2/3 the price. Bring the board for surfing and fun on the sand!
You'll be camping on a pristine coarse sand beach with views of the San Francisco, its famous Golden Gate Bridge and the rugged Pacific Coast of northern California. Only 8 miles north of downtown San Francisco, and less than 4 miles away from Sausalito. You can hike trails that offer a colorful landscape of Monterrey pines, Cypress, Blue Gum eucalyptus, Coastal sage and Lupine.
Tilden has been called the jewel of the district?s park system, it?s no wonder why the East Bay community considers this park as the haven for recreational activities. From a carousel ride, countless prime picnic spots, swimming at Lake Anza and a stroll through the Botanic Garden there is so much to enjoy, not to mention the 2,079 acres of wild and pristine natural beauty.
Built in 1823 it is said to be the last mission in Alta California, built after Mexico gained independence from Spain. You can experience a bit of California history, participate in the special events and activities all located in the Sonoma/Petaluma State Historic Parks.
