The Great Outdoors

South Bay is just south of Lake Okeechobee, Florida’s largest freshwater lake. Covering about 730 square miles, Lake Okeechobee is the perfect place to get some reprieve from the Florida sun. Spend the day out on the water fishing, boating, and enjoying a variety of water sports. If you prefer to stay dry, there are miles of paved and unpaved nature trails surrounding Lake Okeechobee.

RV Parks

Looking for a place to park your motorhome rental in South Bay? Consider a stay at South Bay RV Park. Planted at the base of the levee on Lake Okeechobee’s southeast shores, the area around the park is home to a variety of native plants and endangered animal species. If you own a boat, the boat ramp across the street provides easy access to Lake Okeechobee. Rent an RV and make yourself at home at one of the 72 paved RV sites. Each site is outfitted with a grill, picnic table, and full hookups including 30 and 50 amp electrical service. Guests to the campground also have access to two large communal fire pits and two comfort stations with hot showers, a restroom, and coin laundry facilities. For your entertainment, the campground has a basketball and shuffleboard court, and a playground for the little ones.

Exploring the City

Because of its location on the intersection of two major highways, South Bay calls itself the “The Crossroads of Florida.” You’d think, then, that there would be some significant development in South Bay, but there’s not much to do in this agricultural town. Nevertheless, you won’t run out of things to do when you book an RV in Palm Beach County. One option within Palm Beach County is Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens in Delray Beach. The museum hosts various exhibits consisting of Japanese art and artifacts. The museum also houses a library with more than 7,000 books all related to Japanese topics. The gardens at Morikami, named the Garden of the Drops of Dew, allow you to sit and relax while soaking in the surrounding earth, sky, and water. Though not exact replicas, the six gardens at Morikami were all inspired by famous Japanese gardens.

Had an amazing experience with the Mango Van… this thing honestly became the star of our whole trip.
We took it to a festival and it was perfectly set up for that lifestyle. With the canopy out, LED lights, and speakers going, it turned into the centerpiece of our base camp… people were literally drawn to it all weekend.
The AC is incredible, which was clutch after long days in the heat. And between the huge propane tank and solar setup, you can easily go off-grid for a few days without stressing at all. We didn’t even have to push it, but knowing it’s there is huge.
Also have to shout out Virgilio… communication was on point the entire time. He even responded late at night when I couldn’t figure something out, which says everything about the kind of host he is.
It says it sleeps two, but with the extra cushion he provided, we had a third friend crash comfortably on the floor and still had full access to the bathroom without any issues… super functional setup.
Overall, everything was clean, well thought out, and easy to use… you can tell this van is really taken care of.
And again… this is truly festival-friendly, which is rare. Most van owners have strict rules like no festivals or no pets… the Mango Van actually welcomes both, and that makes it stand out big time.
Would 100% rent again… no question.
