Pocomoke River State Park is located in Snow Hill and comprised of over 14,000 acres full of cypress swamps and loblolly pine. The park borders the Pocomoke River, and visitors can access the river through Shad Landing or Milburn Landing.

State park RV camping is a great way to see nature untouched by man. Be sure to book an RV in Worcester County and reserve your campsite at Pocomoke River State Park. Ocean City is less than 40 minutes from the park and offers shopping and restaurants for campers to enjoy. You can stock your rental RV in Pocomoke City, only 15 minutes southwest of the park.

Getting Outdoors

Spending time outdoors is an excellent way to let your mind and body relax and recharge from the hassles of everyday living. Boating at Pocomoke River State Park is a favorite activity for many visitors. Pull your boat or other watercraft behind your campervan rental and gear up for some fun on the water. The Shad Landing Marina has a pier, launching ramp, lighted dock, electrical hookups. Shad Landing even has fuel and a pump-out station. Milburn Landing has a pier and launching ramp for hand-launched watercraft. The park also offers watercraft rentals.

Pack your fishing gear in your rental RV and spend the weekend camping at Pocomoke River State Park. A Chesapeake Bay Sports fishing license is required to fish in the Pocomoke River and the creeks that meander through the park. A freshwater fishing license is required when fishing in the Fish for Fun pond located across from the marina. If you plan to go trout fishing here, make sure to read up on the state regulations.

Spend a lazy afternoon by the Shad Landing Pool. This idyllic pool is surrounded by trees for plenty of shade from the sun. The large pool is only open from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. The pool does have certified lifeguards on duty, and there's even a concession stand for visitors to get snacks and drinks. You'll need to pay a small fee to enjoy the Shad Landing Pool unless you're a registered camper at Pocomoke River State Park, a veteran, or active duty military.

Motorhome camping at Pocomoke River State Park allows visitors to hit the hiking trails early and enjoy nature as it's waking up from its slumber. There are over 25 miles of trails, and trail maps and guides are available for a fee at the park office. During hunting season, the park requests that hikers wear bright orange while on the trails. Hikers should check out the Algonquin Cross Country Trail that is 12.5 miles in length and winds through Pocomoke River State Park and the Chesapeake Forest.

Camping at Pocomoke River State Park

Spend a weekend state park RV camping at Pocomoke River State Park and enjoy all the park has to offer. The park's two campgrounds offer over 200 sites for tents and RVs. Shad Landing Campground features 175 sites, some of which come with electric hookups. Select sites at Milburn Landing also provide electric hookups. Shad Landing is open year-round while Milburn Landing closes for the winter. Amenities for Pocomoke River State Park campers include a dump station, restrooms, showers, and laundry facilities. Each site also comes with a picnic table and fire ring.

In the unlikely event that no spaces are left at the state park RV campground, check out Frontier Town RV Resort and Campground in Berlin. This RV park can accommodate RVs up to 45 feet long. RV campsites have 20, 30, and 50-amp electric and water. Cable TV is included for each campsite. Campers can upgrade their campsite to include sewer.

The Fort Whaley RV Resort and Campground in Whaleyville is another option for campers. This campground has spaces for RVs up to 45 feet in length, and each campsite has electric and water hookups. Premium sites feature sewer hookups. A picnic table and fire ring are provided with each campsite.

Exploring the Area

While camping at Pocomoke River State Park, you'll want to check out the Jolly Roger Amusement Park. This amusement park has two locations in Ocean City: one on 30th Street and the other at the pier. There are a variety of rides for people of all ages to enjoy, including the teacups, carousel, bumper cars, fun slide, and swings. Guests are encouraged to hop on the Iron Horse Express, a 1952 antique train, and visit the concession stands for a quick snack.

Take a few hours and spend some time exploring Assateague State Park in Berlin. The park is on the north end of Assateague Island and is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean and Sinepuxent Bay. The pristine two-mile shoreline beckons water lovers from all over Maryland and beyond. Another draw to the park is its population of wild horses which like to frolic in the water as much as the humans do.

Fans of the show Ripley’s Believe It or Not must come to see the Odditorium in Ocean City, where you'll experience mysterious, and even bizarre, events that will blow your mind. Check out the Marvelous Mirror Maze and get lost in a maze full of mirrors and LED lights. While visiting the Odditorium, you'll also see artwork and displays from past shows as well as experience some safer, hands-on experiments that are a bit mind-boggling.
