One easy way to explore southern Delaware is to search for an RV in Sussex County, which is in the south-central part of the state. A lot of the land in this region is either farmland or parks, and the parks that are in the area contain dense pockets of wildlife and nature. Trap Pond State Park is a great place to go camping with an RV since it will give you access to both natural and man-made attractions.

Trap Pond was once home to a large, freshwater wetland, and after the area became more urbanized, the wetland went away. The pond inside the park was originally created in the late 1700s in order to power a sawmill. The sawmill focused on harvesting bald cypress trees, a tree that is native to the area. It wasn’t until the 1930s when the land was transformed into the park it is today, with the majority of the work being completed by the Civilian Conservation Corps. Trap Pond State Park was one of Delaware’s first founded state parks, and it serves local residents in nearby cities like Laurel, Delmar, and Salisbury.
