Discover Walkersville RV rentals for memorable road trips

Although the land was surveyed and platted in 1724, the first known settlers didn’t arrive till the 1730s. One of the land buyers was Susanna Beatty, who was a widower. This was unique because, in those days, women did not own properties, generally. A church, the Glade Reformed Congregation, was built in the mid-1700s and is still going today. The original church, which was a log structure, is also still in use for the Congregation’s functions. The town of Walkersville formed when Isaac Walker purchased land from his father in 1831 and created the plans for the development of a town. Adjacent to a major route between Frederick and Gettysburg, PA, the town quickly grew thanks to a steady flow of travelers.

The Great Outdoors

An RV rental in Walkersville is a smart choice. Those with an RV gain access to a whole world of adventure, nature, and pristine wilderness. A few miles west of Frederick, an array of parks lines up like pearls on a necklace, following the South Mountain ridge. All combined, there are over 100,000 acres of wilderness for adventurers and explorers to take advantage of. Hike, bike, horseback ride, and fish. Trouts are plentiful and will practically jump into boats. A section of the Appalachian Trail follows the ridgeline, and thru-hikers and section-hikers are rewarded with sweeping vistas of the wide valleys on either side of the mountain. At the southernmost point, people who crest the Weverton Cliffs will have a fantastic view of the Virginia valley to the south, as well as a glimpse of West Virginia’s Harpers Ferry to the west. Bring your camper rental from Walkersville and enjoy the several RV-and trailer-friendly campgrounds.

RV Parks

When searching for the perfect RV rental, be sure to figure out where to park overnight. Although Walkersville is somewhat rural, street parking is frowned upon. Several of Maryland State Parks have campgrounds with a varying degree of amenities. Gambrill State Park’s Rock Run campground may be a good candidate. It’s in a secluded, quiet area of Catoctin Mountain Park and is adjacent to a fishing pond. Step out of your RV rental and catch a string of fish for breakfast. Reserve well in advance; space is limited.

Exploring the City

Although Walkersville is a quiet bedroom community, there’s plenty of things to see and places to go. A Walkersville luxury RV rental will make it easy to get around in style. Ride in the vintage 1920s rail cars as the steam engine train zips around the scenic Maryland countryside. Walkersville Southern Railroad operates only May through October, although there are special rides to commemorate holidays or certain events.

The RV was perfect for our 6 adult group. Brandon kept an open line of communication for all our needs. His location is very convenient to several different highways. And he offers parking for your vehicle. I would definitely rent from him again and again.
