Situated in the southern section of Michigan lies Belleville Lake. The lake was created in 1925 when a local electric company built a dam along the edge of the Huron River. Since then, Belleville Lake has been a popular destination for fishing and swimming. The lake was also once where the mother of pearls were harvested for buttons.

The area tends to have a mild climate, although sometimes the winter can be very frigid. Belleville Lake is located near cities such as Detroit and Ann Arbor.

For those who want something a bit more challenging, there is the Bicentennial Park Pathway. This paved trail measures 2.7 miles long and will take hikers into a thick forest.

Exploring the Area

There are many nearby destinations to visit with your RV when visiting Belleville Lake. A short drive away in Detroit is The Henry Ford Museum. This museum tells more about the life of this famous inventor. While here, visitors can also view antique cars, learn more about the automotive industry, and even take a tour of a car factory. In addition to this, the museum also has an impressive cookbook collection, some of which are from the 1700s.

While in Detroit, visitors to the area might also take a quick side-trip to Eastern Market. The market rests inside a 19th-century building and sells everything from tacos to fresh fruits and vegetables. During the holidays, there are specialty markets inside which sell various types of Christmas gifts.

About an hour away in Lansing is the Michigan State Capitol. Built-in the late 1800s, this building is where the political happenings of the state occur.
