Getting Outdoors
There are various ways to interact with this spectacular natural environment, which is ideal for low impact recreational uses and includes approximately 2,000 acres of undeveloped land surrounding the lake. Merrill Creek Reservoir’s outdoor areas are typically open year-round, so this is a great place to explore water, woods, fields and more from dawn to dusk, seven days a week in every season. Even the winter months are a great time to do some cross-country skiing in a snow-covered setting. If you’re planning to do some hiking on your motorhome camping trip, you’ll find many miles of nature trails that thread their way through Merrill Creek Reservoir’s environmental preserve. Pick up a map at the Visitor's Center and hit the well-marked trails, which vary in difficulty and length. A handful of shorter paths lead through various habitats. The Perimeter trail encircles the water and offers a longer hike with excellent views. Keep in mind the trails here are meant for foot travel only (no bikes or horses) to protect the native plants and animals, but you can bring pets along, as long as Fido is kept leashed.Bring your binoculars, photography equipment, and fishing gear on your Merrill Creek Reservoir camping vacation -- bird watching, wildlife observation, and casting a line are activities that are definitely encouraged here. Keep an eye out for diverse bird species, including eagles, hawks, horned owls, herons, woodpeckers, and kingfishers. Anglers in search of lake trout, smallmouth/largemouth bass, or rainbow and brown trout will be able to try their luck at the reservoir from the shoreline or in a fishing boat (only electric motorboats are allowed in the water) except at restricted areas, including the Environmental Preserve shoreline.Although swimming is not permitted at the reservoir, you’ll still be able to spend time exploring the water in a canoe or kayak. Paddle around the lake’s inlets and coves and catch a glimpse of wildlife on the shore, ranging from deer and muskrats to foxes and bears. Sailing is another popular activity at Merrill Creek Reservoir, thanks to its frequent winds and ideal mountain-top location. No matter what watercraft you prefer, sign in at the Boat Ramp before launching out from the ramp into the peaceful waters.

I had so much fun camping in the van. It was clean, well appointed, easy to drive, and great on gas. Customer service with excellent. Looking forward to my next trip.
The camper is beautiful and fully stocked with everything, and I mean EVERYTING that we needed. Clear and easy communication, easy pick up and drop off. I highly recommend, and if the need arises, I will rent again!
Traveled to Florida and back with my husband, our daughter and our new grand-baby! It truly was the way to travel with a little one … made diaper changes and feeding a breeze with comfort and privacy. Would def recommend for young families that want to hit the road… It also fit all of the baby gear as well as our luggage and other items so well. Hoping to rent again in the future with my husband for a long weekend getaway! Communication with Vanture Customs was superb often responding literally within a couple of minutes. Thanks again for everything!
