Nature Trails and Birding Spots in South New Jersey
With the Delaware River just a few feet from Riverton's front door, you wouldn't have to go far for water-based adventures. If you want to add birdwatching, hiking, and cycling to canoeing and fishing, the Amico Island Park is only 10 minutes' drive by motorhome rental from Riverton. The 55-acre peninsula is home to upland forests, wetlands, and freshwater ponds. Within the park, more than 150 species of birds, including great blue herons (which nest in a small island by the Dredge Harbor between March to June), can be spotted.
Where to Park Your RV
While about 25 miles away, the Philadelphia South/Clarksboro KOA in Clarksboro is the closest campground for your RV rental from Riverton. It has full hookup sites, restrooms and showers, with access to a swimming pool and a catch-and-release fishing pond. If you want to be close to Batsto and the Batona Trail, head to the Atsion Recreation Area inside the Wharton State Forest. There are no hookups here, but you’ll have easier access to lakes, ponds, and fields where wildlife abounds.

My family had a great trip with The Wayfarer! We have 2 boys that loved the bunks and our infant slept with us on the main bed.
Mike had almost every item we would have needed to make the trip comfortable, from flashlights and fire starters to camp chairs and a pop up canopy. He also gave me clear instructions during the key exchange so we were able to setup camp and get to the great outdoors quickly like we wanted.
Beginners or seasoned campers will find The Wayfarer a great choice for your next trip.
The only caveat, which is common to almost every compact RV, is that I am 6’2” tall and did not fit on the main bed. I had no trouble standing up inside the camper and I spent so much time enjoying the trip during the day that it didn’t affect my ability to sleep well at night, but a consideration for anyone taller than me and planning to spend more time lounging inside the camper.
Overall, a great choice for couples or small families and I will definitely be booking against for future trips.

We had a great experience renting Laura’s camper. It was exactly as listed and perfect for our family of 7. We spent a 9 day vacation in it and there was plenty of room for all of us, our things and food! The camper was fully equipped with everything we needed for the kitchen, sleeping, all the things needed for hook ups and more. There were even movies and toys for the kids. Spacious refrigerator, plenty of storage, and a very comfy bed. Laura was very communicative before and after our trip. Her and her husband were flexible with pick up and drop off times and he explained everything to us and how to work it all before we left. We would absolutely recommend renting from them and we look forward to renting from them again ourselves!
