Scotch Plains, New Jersey is a large township in Union County. It was settled in the late 1600s by many European settlers, especially Scottish Quakers, who named the area after one of their leaders, George Scott. The town has been home to many interesting historical feats, including an American Revolution battle at Ash Swamp and for being home to the first African American golf country club in the United States.
