Sadler is a city in Grayson County, Texas, that was first settled in 1869. It was developed later in 1878 and named after its founder, John Sadler, who donated land in order to convince a railroad company to extend their tracks to his new settlement. A post office was established in 1892, but it wasn't until the early to mid-1930s that the town contained a number of businesses. The city incorporated in the mid-1970s but today it is still a quaint and quiet town.

Search for an RV in Grayson County, and you will have your choice from a selection of RV models ideally suited to the Texan environment. There are other towns and cities that are interesting and worth visiting. Denison is former President Dwight D. Eisenhower's birthplace and hometown. Prosper was incorporated as a town in 1914, and its first mayor served that position for 49 consecutive years. Pilot Point is located on an elevated plot of land that provides an observation point of the Trinity River; the elevated site was nicknamed “Pilot Point” long before the town existed. Denton distinguished itself from its neighboring cities with the construction of two universities, first in 1890 and again in 1901. Gainesville was originally and informally called “Liberty,” but the existence of another identically titled city in Texas forced the local citizens to rename the town after a U.S. General, Edmund Pendleton Gaines, who had been sympathetic to the Texas Revolution. Your Sadler travel trailer rental is your invitation to experience the history of Grayson County and the state of Texas.

Discover Sadler

The Great Outdoors

The Cross Timbers is a stretch of land starting in Oklahoma and stretching through Kansas into Texas. The area is a combination of woodland, savanna, and desert; as a region, the timbers are a part of the Great Prairie that stretches from Alberta, Canada, all the way down to Northern Mexico. The Timbers has been a vital oil exploration region in the past but today is a combination of rangeland, farmland, and open pastures. The portion of Cross Timbers near Sadler has a few roads crossing through it where visitors can observe the plant and animal life from their car and take photographs. This would be an ideal time to take your Sadler camper rental for a spin and use it as a photography blind, or just enjoy the ride and the scenery.

Lake Murray State Park is just a short drive from Sadler, across the state border in Oklahoma. It is a cultivated recreation area with picnic sites, campgrounds, and much more. It has hiking trails, swimming and boating in Lake Murray (which is completely surrounded by the park), an 18-hole golf course and a restaurant overlooking the lake.

Herman Baker Park is a rustic urban park with a lake, Pickens Lake, in the middle and surrounded by a nature trail. Fishing is allowed in the lake, as is hiking and biking along the nature trail. There are benches along the trail, restrooms, and picnic tables, should anyone want to stop for a rest or just take in the scenic view. There is a solid variety of plant and animal life in the park, so bringing a camera with you is strongly suggested.

RV Parks

There is a multitude of RV parks and campgrounds near Sadler; some of them may have mobile homes or long-term guests. Your Sadler RV rental is all you will need to fit in comfortably wherever you decide to stay.

Four Aces Highway 82 RV Park is a cultivated RV campground that rents sites by the day, week, or month. The park has level dirt roads, a good selection of tree cover offering shade and plenty of grassy areas. Individual sites have gravel pads, pull-through access, and full hookups.

RV Texoma is a rustic, semi-cultivated area with level dirt roads and open spacious sites. There are plenty of grassy areas and lots of trees. Individual sites have full hookups, partial shade, and fire pits.

Exploring The City

There is a lot to see and do in the area surrounding Sadler. There are numerous farms, and at one of them, you can pick the berries yourself for a feeling of accomplishment you won't find at a supermarket. A local knitting store is part business and part art gallery with its array of yarns and knitting supplies, patterns, and much more. Those inner children who never got over their toy cars will love an outdoor fun zone where adults can drive large heavy-duty equipment such as tractors and bulldozers. The guests and instructor communicate through headsets, and there is a short video introducing safety techniques as well as how to drive the equipment. After you have been here, you may want to remember that your RV is exactly that, an RV (not a tractor); be sure to take your Sadler motorhome rental for a spin at least once while you have the chance. You don't need a destination; that is half the fun and why RV vacations are unique.

When it's time for dinner, Sadler has lots of venues to choose from. One local seafood restaurant is family owned and operated, and situated near a lake. This long-time establishment offers all the usual entrees you would expect and then adds catfish to the list. The sides are prepared in-house as are the desserts, and this restaurant has an extensive and tasty selection of pies for a post-meal treat. A local Mexican restaurant has good food at reasonable prices. Diners stopping here should try the chicken enchiladas with cream sauce. Takeout is also an option, and the best part of a vacation is enjoying your dinner outdoors in a comfortable lawn chair under a star-filled sky. Your Sadler luxury RV rental is how you can keep the leftovers for a late-night snack or lunch the next day.
